Rabbi David Almog
Rabbi Almog joined Congregation Anshe Emeth in August 2024. He was ordained by Yeshivat Chovevei Torah (“YCT”) Rabbinical School in 2005 and has served in various rabbinic capacities, including campus rabbi at Columbia University and teacher of future clergy at the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York. He is also finishing a PhD in Rabbinic Texts at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Rabbi Almog is married to Lisa, a highly accomplished Jewish educator, and together they have two children.
Philip Goldwasser is a highly respected High Holiday service leader, with more than three decades of experience guiding congregations across the United States through the profound and uplifting traditions of the season. Drawing on his deep knowledge of traditional High Holiday nusach, Philip artfully blends these time-honored melodies with contemporary folk tunes, creating an atmosphere that is both reverent and approachable. His unique musical approach helps make the prayers resonate more deeply, inviting greater participation and spiritual connection among community members of all ages.
A passionate lifelong learner, Philip holds a BA in Judaic Studies from Rutgers University, an MA from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and Rabbinic Ordination from Mesifta Adath Wolkowisk. His extensive training, combined with his warm and inclusive leadership style, has made him a sought-after service leader for congregations seeking meaningful and accessible High Holiday worship experiences. Whether in large urban synagogues or smaller community settings, Philip is devoted to nurturing a sense of belonging, reflection, and joy during the Days of Awe.
