MISSION STATEMENT
Congregation Anshe Emeth of Hudson, New York, is an inclusive Synagogue that embraces the evolving values of Jewish tradition and heritage. We strive to be a warm and welcoming community open to diverse religious backgrounds, committed to enhancing Jewish life and culture, and the principles of Tikkun Olam. Our traditions are deeply rooted in the past while honoring change as part of the Jewish experience. Our purpose is serving the religious, educational, and cultural needs of the Jewish community, as well as being a constructive participant in the general community. We are dedicated to the joyful expression of all aspects of Judaism and its rich heritage.
ABOUT US
Congregation Anshe Emeth has been serving Columbia & Greene county Jewish residents for 136 years. If you would like to read about the history of our Synagogue and the early Jewish residents of Hudson, please go to the History tab.
We strive to be a warm and welcoming community. Many of our members are intermarried and we invite their spouses, partners and families to join and participate in our events and services. Our goal is to make everyone comfortable with our service, and Rabbi Dave conducts and educational service. In addition to Friday night service and one Saturday morning Torah service each month, we have full services for the High Holidays and celebrate most Jewish holidays with a service and or community celebration. Additionally, we have started a once a month Friday night zoom Kiddush.
Our Synagogue has a large social hall and a full Kosher kitchen. Our kitchen committee headed by Rebecca Shea and Jessica Weintraub, who are both great cooks, provides numerous delicious meals throughout the year. If you are interested in some of their recipes or attending upcoming cooking classes check out the what's cooking tab.
Rabbi Dave has a monthly zoom adult education class and we host a book club which includes fiction and non-fiction selections. We have a wonderful projection and sound system and able to show movies and are able to stream talks. Check out our events tab.
The Synagogue has numerous classrooms and a library. Members are welcome to borrow both children's and adult books.
Hebrew school classes are taught and B'nai Mitzvah training is also provided.
Our Synagogue owns a Jewish cemetery which is part of Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson, NY. We have a traditional section and a smaller non-traditional section, for those couples who have intermarried. We also have two forms of membership, one which includes burial rights and the other with no burial rights. If you are interested in learning more about the cemetery, contact the office and the Chairperson of the cemetery committee will reach out to you.
We hope in additional to checking out the rest of our website, you will join us at a service or event.
